Q. How does hydroseeding work? A. Grass seed, fertilizer, and hydromulch are mixed into a thick slurry that is evenly sprayed onto prepared soil. Once your lawn has been hydroseeded, the grass seed and fertilizer are protected by an attractive green layer of hydromulch that seals in moisture and prevents rain from eroding the soil and washing away the seeds. Plus, since the seed is soaked with water in the mix, germination occurs much faster. Hydroseeding allows you to have a lush, emerald green lawn in days. The new seedlings are grown in place and adapt to your soil conditions. Sod, on the other hand, is subjected to transplant shock that may occur when your soil is different from the original soil the sod was grown in. As a result, sod doesn't always take. Q. When will I see results? A. With proper care and watering, you will see growth in five to seven days after hydroseed application. Under normal conditions, you'll have a well-established lawn in three to four weeks.
